Xpel Paint Protection Film

Paint Protection FAQ’s-

Question: Does Paint Protection Film resist yellowing?

Answer:  Yes, it resists yellowing because the film is constructed of thermoplastic urethane, a touch material that is covered by a clear coat layer. The film and clear coat layers contain UV protectants to counteract harmful ultraviolet rays that can cause yellowing.

Question: Will the Paint Protection Film harm the painted surface if the film is removed?

Answer: If the film is properly applied to a fully cured painted vehicle, it can be removed, usually in one piece and without damaging the paint surface beneath the film.

Question: What are some characteristics of a poorly installed clear bra?

Answer: Stretch marks will appear when paint protection film is stretched past its threshold a significant change in the texture of the film will appear. A small amount of this is acceptable around compound curves but should be very minimal. Excessive gaps at the body edges due to poor pattern design or misalignment. Air or water bubbles that don’t go away due to improper squeegee technique, dust or dirt under the film.

Question: Can Paint Protection Film be applied over a vehicle that has had the paint touched up?

Answer: We recommend that any repainted surfaces on your vehicle be professionally painted and fully cured before applying paint protection film. If you have touched up scratches or chips with a tube of “touch-up” paint and then applied paint protection film over it, the film will protect that area until it is removed. If the paint protection film is removed, it’s possible that the area around the non-professional “touch-up” paint could peel off.

Question: How is Paint Protection Film maintained?

Answer: Once applied, refrain from washing the vehicle for 3-4 days until the film cures. Washing after that time presents no problem with no special care needed.

Question: Can I use wax over Paint Protection Film?

Answer: Yes. When waxing the vehicle though, some wax may build up along the film edges. This can easily be removed when dried with a soft cloth. Do not use any waxes containing dyes or waxes that are not recommended for urethanes. Abrasive polishes and/or rubbing compounds are not to be used.

Question: What products does Pleasant Details recommend to best maintain the Paint Protection Film?

Answer: We recommend a plastic cleaner called Plexus that can be used after washing to keep the film shiny and dust free.

Being the clear bra install leader in South Carolina we are always testing and keeping up with industry trends. One of the newest films came out almost two years ago, which was Avery Nan-Fusion. We’ve been using this product on our own vehicles with great success and decided to offer it to our customers. We feel this film is the best film on the market due to the clarity, durability and lifetime warranty. Avery Nano-Fusion will be the only film we offer with a lifetime warranty!

Along with adding Avery Nano-Fusion, we’ve custom-built our installation bay with a four post lift for increased efficiency. This will allow us to better install the film by being able to lower and rise the vehicle during application.
